Simplified and streamlined yet outfitted with all the features needed for fast, accurate searches in the event of a slide, the Recon BT avalanche beacon features Bluetooth capabilities, and a housing with soft-touch contact points for improved handling. The beacon’s Bluetooth connection allows you to manage settings and software updates from your smartphone via the PIEPS mobile app. With a 60-meter circular range, and three antennas for pinpoint search accuracy, the Recon BT is the go-to beacon for everyday backcountry travelers. Tested the multi-victim mode in my living room, the dva indicates the number of people escaping and marking victims is simple. Warning: the automatic return to transmission function (in the event of an over-avalanche) is not activated, you have to activate it via the app. The only drawback is the start button, which requires the use of both hands, but I think it will get better with time. (Translated review)
